Oregon State University is dedicated to preventing all forms of sexual violence on campus, which includes sexual harassment, dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. All of these behaviors are forms of sexual harassment under the regulations of Title IX. These behaviors impact the lives of survivors and those around them. Anyone can experience these behaviors; people of all genders, races, cultural backgrounds, religions, socioeconomic levels, marital status, abilities or levels of education can experience sexual violence.
OSU is committed to providing an environment that fosters a culture of respect and healthy interpersonal relationships. We believe in strengthening an environment that prioritizes affirmative consent to sexual encounters and dating relationships and thus create a university community where violence in any form is not tolerated.
If you have experienced sexual harassment or sexual violence, know that you will be believed and supported by the members of the OSU community. Further know that it is not your fault, regardless of the circumstances. Nothing in your behavior caused this to happen to you. You may be experiencing a wide array of emotions and confusing thoughts, such as fear, anger, sadness, disbelief, shock and recurring memories. All of these feelings and thoughts are natural responses to the experience of distressing events.
If you decide to tell someone, how you tell your story and what you tell is entirely up to you. Regardless of what you decide regarding disclosure of your story, understand that the OSU community is committed to your support and your safety, and we will be there for you if you decide to seek our assistance.
